While this may come as pretty big news given the exposure the new allowance will give developers and apps to incorporate NFTs, Apple's guidelines come with some form of restrictions. The updated guideline reads;

“Apps may use in-app purchasing to buy and sell services related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), such as mining, listing, and transferring. Apps may allow users to display their NFTs, provided that ownership of the NFT does not unlock in-app features or functionality. Apps may allow users to Browse NFT collections owned by others, provided that apps do not include buttons, external links, or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms other than in-app purchases.

It can be said that the update is both a positive and a negative because the functionality is generally limited which may not bode well for the developers to maximize the traffic generated by the app.

NFTs as a branch of blockchain technology are going mainstream and the number of tech giants, especially those in the social media space, supporting its growth has continued to grow over the past year. While I replied to him Fired Its NFT Collection Twitter began allowing NFT owners to feature NFTs as their profile pictures earlier in the year.

While these moves help spread the potential of the technology, Meta Platforms, Facebook's parent company, has launched support for NFTs across some of its apps. Included Instagram.

With most of these apps running on the App Store, Apple's new allowance will significantly help boost their embrace, and developers can see this as a win, despite the restrictions in place.
